Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) is a protocol that send information in real time to your mobile, in the form of remote actions, when it receives a specific code.
In other words, USSD codes are short commands that the owner of the phone types on the keyboard with combinations of certain numbers and special characters, (usually with a * and a #). For example, to see the IMEI number of our mobile, we enter * # 06 # and it is automatically shown to us on the screen.
Through USSD code requests, you can also receive information about the balance, reverse charge, balance transfer, record the payment, find out your subscriber number, the rate plan and much more.
Characteristics of USSD codes
- Messages are not stored on the phone.
- USSD commands are available to all subscribers on the phone line
- Mobiles from different manufacturers display some USSD menus differently and have a different response principle.
- In case a dialog box appears, you must reply to the USSD request with numbers
- USSD responses may come in transliteration (in Latin). This is due to the fact that the system automatically transliterates USSD responses that are large in number of characters (more than 70 characters)
Benefits of USSD codes
- Speed dialing a command on the phone keypad
- Possibility of sending short commands from any device with GSM support. Which is not a disadvantage for non-smartphone owners.
- Short commands can be sent with both a positive and negative phone balance. These codes are free and do not require an internet connection to send.
- The most important advantage over SMS messages is the fact that the USSD code is delivered much faster than SMS and is not saved anywhere
- The shipping channel is safe.
USSD commands on the attendants
We all use cellular communications, but we don't all have the same operatorsSomeone will have Orange, Vodafone, Movistar, Llamaya, Lyca, Lebara, Tuenti, Jazztel, Yoigo, Simyo or Hits Mobile.
As everyone knows, the commands sent through the center are also different for each operator. We have prepared a short list of USSD codes for such equipment, maybe one of them will be useful to you.
This will be of great help to the user of a particular network or operator to interact with the service applications.
It's just not realistic to remember all the USSD requests, so we'll write the commands. You can save it for yourself or print it from this site, to continue working with the codes in the future.
